Nick Ramsay

Shadow Finance Minister

Nick is currently the Shadow Finance Minister and chairs the influential Public Accounts Committee, which scrutinises expenditure by the Labour-run Welsh Government and other public bodies in Wales. Originally from Cwmbran Nick went to Croesyceiliog Comprehensive School before attending St John’s College at the University of Durham where he gained a Joint Honours degree in English and Philosophy. He later gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics from Cardiff University.

Mohammad Asghar

Assembly Member for South Wales East

Mohammad Asghar – known to his friends as Oscar – has been an Assembly Member since 2007 when he became the first person from an ethnic minority to win a seat in the National Assembly. Born in Pashawar, Pakistan, in 1945 Oscar is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi, and attended Pashawar University before completing his accountancy training at Nash College, Newport. Oscar joined the Conservative Party in December 2009, when he left Plaid Cymru and became the first AM to ‘cross the floor’ and join another party in the Assembly’s history.
